Doris International Racing Team
I first met Hilary with Jason at a r/c car race meeting. I cannot remember which one exactly, but it would have been the late 1990s. As part of Doris International Racing Team we all called her “H” and she called me “Big Cheese” or Cheese for short. Doris Racing started as an in joke between racing friends which then grew and grew. We would get large numbers of racers and their partners wanting to eat with team Doris. Bookings of 25-30 in busy restaurants became our specialty. There were lots of happy memories of international trips too. I’ve also posted photos from the first to Florida, which was more holiday than racing. There were plenty more, and this photo was from the Vienna Hard Rock in 2018 after a ETS meeting, and as usual shows H and I enjoying good food and drink. Last time I saw H would have been pre-lockdown during a break from my referee duties at the UK2020 Worlds in Milton Keynes. I will miss her smile, miss our racing meals together and of course I will miss her company.
