Former colleague
I met Hilary when I transferred to the recruitment business she was working at – and at the time I was a bit daunted by her as I had seen her advertise several impressive roles in New Scientist. In fact she offered me the warmest of welcomes, quickly made me feel at home and took it upon herself to show me round the best pubs for lunch and introduce me to shopping at The Galleria. We had a very different style of work, but I was always impressed and amazed that such brilliance emerged from the piles of chaos on her desk. Similar to her amazing cooking, the finished article was always worth it! We shared a love of cats, the occasional raucous night and good food – as well as great friends. I am eternally grateful that she introduced me to Nicky and have many fond memories of time together and countless witty exchanges. There is a big Hilary shaped hole in the world now, but I cannot help but smile when I think of the fun times we shared.
